Hill & Smith Infrastructure will be showcasing its latest VRS solutions at Highways UK

News article

Every year, October marks Highways UK, an event highly anticipated by the road infrastructure industry, where we will be sharing our 200-year heritage with our stand visitors and showcasing our latest solutions.

Highways UK brings together the people responsible for planning, developing, managing, maintaining, and future-proofing the nation’s roads networks.  With a free to attend exhibition hosting over 375 exhibitors, a conference featuring industry leaders sharing their views and expertise across 10 theatres, and unmatched networking opportunities, it is the must attend event for the highways and road infrastructure sector in the United Kingdom.

Embracing this year’s theme of “Innovation, Sustainability, Collaboration”, we are set to demonstrate our ability to provide end-to-end road safety solutions, supported by trusted partnerships, while being committed to decarbonisation and sustainability.  Bringing together four of the UK’s leading road safety and security businesses makes us the go-to provider of temporary and permanent road safety barriers, vehicle restraint systems, bridge parapets and passive sign supports.

With our systems connecting seamlessly, we are able to provide tailored solutions to meet the full scope of our customers’ requirements.  Our product innovations and production processes minimise our carbon impact and our collaborative project planning and delivery enables lean programmes deployment.

Systems showcased on our stand will include:

REBLOC to guardrail transition

Tested to EN1317 with an N2 containment level and a working width of W2, the transition is suitable for connecting REBLOC concrete barriers to a number a steel guardrails.

 Structuguard

Tested to EN1317, the StructuGuard has a performance classification of N2W1. It features Hex Brackets and W-beam profiles, and is perfect for situations where the working width is limited and a connection to the structure along its length is necessary.

Pedestrian parapet

The VGSPP-12 steel pedestrian parapet, designed to BS7818, has a height of 2.4m and its curved design with large circular top rail give it an anti-climb characteristic and aims to prevent falls from height.

REBLOC concrete barrier

With 20% less concrete, 50% less steel, and 33% fewer emissions through the use of low carbon concrete, our precast concrete barrier is setting a new standard, halving carbon emissions compared to conventional production methods.

HiMast passive sign support

Made in the UK using sustainable aluminium, and available with short lead times, HiMast provides an alternative to the traditional structural steel poles that are protected by safety barriers.
